The baritone achieved his greatest fame with John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, an all-ballad album from 1962 that set Hartman’s richly sonorous voice amid Coltrane‘s quartet in some of its quietest moments. Most of Hartman’s sparse recorded output puts the same emphasis on his warmly lyrical work at slower tempos, but this CD is different. It’s a selection from two LPs recorded in Japan in 1972, with the first five tracks from a tribute to Trane and the final seven from Hartman’s meeting with trumpeter Terumasa Hino.

Good day everyone, it’s a pleasure to return with another prolific artist. This week, we’re honored to share with you a classic piece by Baltimore, MD native Larry Poncho Brown titled “The Forgotten Journey Female.”

He pursued his art education at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1984.

He is the youngest honorary member of Art 2000, a national multi-cultural visual arts association. Among his convictions is educating young artists. He is the founder of “The African American Youth Art Exhibition” which has been sponsored in Baltimore annually since 1990. – Grandpasart.com.
