Heirloom Series Release Features Special Guests Michael Brecker and Claudio Roditi

Harris Simon - The Mystery of Passion

As a 21-year-old wunderkind, pianist-composer-arranger Harris Simon went into the studio in March of 1978 to record his first recording under his own name. Produced by George Klabin and Jeff Kaufman, New York Connection featured an all-star cast including tenor sax titan Michael Brecker, Brazilian trumpeter Claudio Roditi, saxophonist-flutist Joe Farrell, Uruguyan keyboardist Hugo Fattoruso, bassist Mike Richmond, guitarist Bill Washer and Brazilian drummer Portinho. Two years later, Simon returned to the studio with essentially the same heavyweight crew to record Swish. Both quintessential late ’70s offerings, now available for the first time in three decades on the Resonance Records compilation The Mastery of Passion, represent a moment in time when jazz was crossing over to a wider audience. Olivier Manchon's Orchestre de Chambre Miniature - Vol 1

Olivier Manchon ’s Orchestre de Chambre Miniature – Volume 1 evokes images of the fantastic. Just imagine a masquerade wherein a violin, a viola, a cello and a bass dance in a circle around a twirling soloist, suspended in an open void. The French violinist and composer creates a cinematic narrative of jazz and classical music performed on strings and woodwinds, written especially for a select group of friends culled from the best of the jazz, indie rock, and classical realms. Known for his collaborations with indie artists Sufjan Stevens and My Brightest Diamond, and as co-leader of orchestral pop group Clare and the Reasons, Manchon presents a miniature orchestra of just five musicians who sound anything but small.
