Jackiem Joyner - Jackiem Joyner

Jackiem Joyner -//- Jackiem Joyner – [Artistry Music, 2010]

Jackiem burst onto the scene with his ‘babysoul’ on the tiny ARTizen imprint. His second, ‘Lil’ Man Soul’ on Artistry Music, exploded his pop/urban melodies across the breadth of contemporary jazz consciousness via two #1 singles (‘I’m Waiting For You’ and ‘Take Me There’) which have together logged at this writing a total of over 21 weeks at the apex of the charts. His newest, the eponymous ‘Jackiem Joyner’, boasts yet more radio friendly tracks including the single ‘Dance With Me.’ The young composer/producer also stretches into new territory with the Slash-like guitar burn of ‘Push’ and the synchopated marching band drum opening of ‘The Reunion’. All are sure to be favorites on the Joyner concert trail as he maintains double duty with both his bands as part of Keiko Matsui’s outfit.

As ever, Jackiem eschews the trends of big-name producers and guests stars, and does almost all of it himself – playing, producing and composing. There are a couple covers: Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ and the King of Pop’s own ‘Off The Wall’, and a guest guitar solo from Paul Jackson Jr. on ‘Turn It Up’ (which he captured while both were on tour in Reading, PA).

Release Date: 8/3/2010

Naturalistic - Changes in Perspective

Naturalistic -\\- Changes In Perspective [Naturalistic, 2010]

A new take on modern jazz, bringing the listener through the hardships and beauty of life from start to finish. Every song is a solid testament to the great writing and expression of the group.

Our debut album has put all of our emotions out on the table. Recorded live, you can really feel the meaning of each song. What we are trying to do is just make music that speaks to everyone. We want you to nod your head and hum our melody long after you have heard what we have put together. So much inspiration is taken personally from great artists such as Avishai Cohen, Esbjorn Svensson Trio, Mark Guiliana, and other artists who have found a voice that moves jazz forward and pushes the envelope of music constantly, which is what we have been doing as a group since we formed.

Our sound has become so unique because although all of us are so interested and invested in what we play our individual influences range from our piano player William F. Well’s love for pop and R&B to our bass player Francis Hickey’s passion for electronic music. Each member truly has their own voice and put together makes our sound honest and real. We all thank you for your interest in our music because without the listener this music would not nearly have the meaning that it does now.
