Early Bird Discounted Ticket Purchase
Option Extended Until April 15

MICHAEL FRANTI

Organizers of the JAS Labor Day weekend festival announced today that Michael Franti & Spearhead will replace Lenny Kravitz, for his previously announced performance on Sunday Sept 4, 2011 at the JAS festival. Michael Franti & Spearhead will co-headline and perform immediately prior to the Zac Brown Band, winner of the Best New Artist award at the 2011 Grammies, in Franti’s ONLY scheduled 2011 appearance in Colorado.

Representatives of Mr. Kravitz explained to JAS that the release of his new record, previously scheduled for early spring 2011, had been pushed back to fall 2011, and thus his scheduled summer 2011 tour had been postponed. Festival organizers and representatives of the artist are looking to potentially reschedule the performance for 2012, pending artist availability, but no commitment has been made yet.

Michael Franti & Spearhead have previously performed at the JAS festival in two acclaimed shows, including a single day attendance record set in 2007 in a co-bill with the Allman Brothers Band.

“We were excited to be part of Lenny’s first tour behind a new record in years, so we’re content to wait for everything to line up best for the Artist and Record company’s larger plan,” stated JAS President/CEO Jim Horowitz. “Meanwhile, we’re thrilled that one of Colorado’s most popular and high energy performing artists was available for this date in an exclusive 2011 Colorado appearance, and we know from personal experience at JAS… Franti’s shows here are always a big hit with our diverse audience. The Sept 4 bill of Zac Brown Band, Michael Franti & Spearhead and Fitz & the Tantrums promises to be a monster closing day at JAS.”

Individuals who have purchased tickets to the Lenny Kravitz show on Sept 4, 2011 may get a refund if processed by May 1, 2011.

JAS also announced that its deeply discounted “Early Bird” Ticket Purchase option has been extended for ONE WEEK ONLY to Friday, April 15. Early Bird tickets for the Saturday and Sunday performances are just $60 (increasing to $75 after the 15th and $85 as of Aug. 8), while Friday Girl Talk and Thievery Corporation tickets are just $40 (increasing to $50 after the 15th and $60 as of Aug. 8).

Previously announced artists at the September 2 – 4 festival include Steely Dan, Zac Brown Band, Girl Talk, Thievery Corporation, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Fitz & the Tantrums and the Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses.

Michael Franti first formed Spearhead in the mid-nineties and increasingly in recent years, he’s found his own voice musically and his own organic brand of popular success. Franti and Spearhead’s last album, 2008’s All Rebel Rockers, became the biggest hit of Fanti’s career, hitting the Top 40 on the Billboard 200, and yeilded his biggest hit, the Top 20 “Say Hey (I Love You).”

The Sound of Sunshine, the inspired and inspiring new album by Michael Franti and Spearhead, is a kind of musical sun shower, a bright, beautiful and often buoyant song cycle created to bring all kinds of listeners a sense of hope during rough and rainy times for so many in our world.
