Baja, Mexico-based—by way of Minneapolis—guitarist Todd Clouser and his band, A Love Electric, release their sophomore album, 20th Century Folk Selections, on February 14 via The Royal Potato Family. The set features eight renditions of songs that Clouser calls “folkloric in nature,” including those by the likes of Nirvana, Lou Reed and Beastie Boys among others. The recording will be released in conjunction with a tour that extends over 30 dates in the U.S. plus shows in Spain and Mexico.

Drummer and Producer Karriem Riggins is featured on Paul McCartney’s album Kisses on the Bottom that was released yesterday. The album includes guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder and three-time GRAMMY Award winning jazz vocalist/pianist Diana Krall. Riggins will be performing with McCartney, who will be named the 2012 MusiCares person of the year, at the organization’s Gala in Los Angeles on February 10 and also at the GRAMMY® Awards on February 12.

A Bay Area native, tenor saxophonist Dayna Stephens makes his auspicious debut on the Criss Cross label with Today Is Tomorrow – a soaring, lyrical, deeply swinging collection of originals and jazz classics (Hoagy Carmichael’s Skylark, Joe Henderson’s Black Narcissus). As a 2003 graduate of the Thelonious Monk Institute, Stephens had the opportunity to work with the likes of Dave Holland, Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock, whohelped strengthen his complex sensibility as a composer and improviser. In recent years Dayna has appeared with the likes of Carlos Santana, Kenny Barron, Terence Blanchard, Gretchen Parlato and many others.
