Monday Michiru -][- SOULCEPTION – [Adventure Music, 2012] –

Monday Michiru needs no introduction in her native Japan where she starred in the film, Hikaru Onna. Monday has decided to blend her talents with some of the Adventure Music label’s Brazilian roots. Recorded and mixed on six winter days in New York, Monday takes us on a brilliant journey across her personal musical spectrum. Continue reading →

In recent years I’ve been afforded numerous opportunities to hear music by revered and unfamiliar artists alike. On this occasion, I’m delighted to experience new music by critically acclaimed duo tenor saxophonist Jessica Jones and multi-faceted French-horn-(ist) Mark Taylor. Consequently, with this offering they’ve drawn from a collage of intricate jazz harmonics, abstract rhythms and improvised music on their latest endeavor titled “LIVE at the FREIGHT” recorded in July, 2011 at the legendary Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, California. Grant Geissman, Bop! Bang! Boom!

Grant Geissman -][- Bop! Bang! Boom! – [Open All Nite Entertainment/Futurism Records, 2012] –

The powerfully eclectic new recording from jazz guitarist Grant Geissman. With special guests Tom Scott, Larry Carlton, Albert Lee, Russell Ferrante, Mike Finnigan, and Van Dyke Parks.

”From loping funk to boogaloo to earthy blues shuffles, with a haunting ballad, a beautiful samba and an urgently swinging post-bop romp thrown into the mix-along with touches of classical, flamenco and zydeco – Grant Geissman covers all the bases with authority on BOP! BANG! BOOM! –Bill Milkowski (from the liner notes). Continue reading →
