Will Holton -][- Love Stories Untold, Vol. 1 –Mp3– [Soulfully Smooth Productions, 2012] –

Born in Buffalo NY, Will Holton has been playing the sax for over 10 years and “wowing” the public professionally for the past 2 years. Starting his humble beginnings by playing at home when his father gave him his first saxophone as a gift in his junior year of high school, he honed his talent in church on Sundays and throughout the many spiritually musical performances throughout the years. Will Holton recorded 2 cds with the international choir “The New Beginnings Chorale Ensemble” and acknowledging that “God has a plan for me”, he also graciously performed for the American Cancer Society and for the auspicious sororities Alpha Kappa Alpha and Zeta Phi Beta. Today’s featured artist Charly Palmer depicts with clarity and humility in this thought-provoking yet prolific painting illustrates the importance for citizens in this country to relentlessly pursue justice through and by casting our vote as individuals this (all) upcoming election. Despite what some estranged political figures and media pundits to the right of the isle have chosen to take the path of deception with their misleading motives, greed, mean spirited and hate filled ideology. Notwithstanding, as Americans regardless of color, religion, or educational background we do have the Constitutional Right to Vote regardless of party affiliation. According to this beloved document, “VOTING IS A RIGHT” NOT A PRIVILEGE as the obstructionists attempt to unashamedly mislead with fragments of fear to permanently derail our precious right as Americans to vote now and future elections. –Rob Young | Urban Flux Media

Poncho Sanchez and His Latin Jazz Band Live in Hollywoood

Poncho Sanchez and His Latin Jazz Band -][- Live in Hollywood –Mp3– [Concord Picante, 2012] –

For more than three decades as both a leader and a sideman, conguero Poncho Sanchez has stirred up a fiery stew of straightahead jazz, gritty soul music, and infectious melodies and rhythms from a variety of Latin American and South American sources. His influences are numerous, but among the more prominent figures that inform his music are two of the primary architects of Latin jazz – conga drummer and composer Chano Pozo and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. Sanchez pays tribute to these two titans on his new album, Chano y Dizzy!, his 25th recording as a bandleader on Concord Picante, set for release on September 27, 2011. For the first time, Sanchez and Francisco Torres, long time band member (trombone/vocals), join forces to produce the new album. -[Excerpt | Biography]-

As time allows, visit Poncho on his Facebook page.

Julian Shore, FILAMENTS

Julian Shore -][- FILAMENTS –Mp3– [Tone Rogue Records, 2012] –

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, I began playing piano at a young age. Starting out playing blues, pop and classical repertoire I found jazz when I began high school and I’ve since made that my focus of sorts. I began to study improvisation and composition with famed jazz educator Hal Crook when I was 17, and soon after I was awarded a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to perform or record with musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Gretchen Parlato, Myron Walden, Gilad Hekselman, Kendrick Scott, Mark Giuliana, Ferenc Nemeth and Hal Crook among many others. -[Excerpt | About]-

Harris, Sánchez & Scott, NINETY MILES Live at Cubadisco

Harris, Sánchez and Scott -][- Ninety Miles Live At Cubadisco –Mp3– [Concord Picante, 2012] –

Perhaps better than any politician or diplomat, musicians – especially jazz musicians, whose craft is in many ways an improvised form of communication – understand inherently that when we look at each other as individuals and focus on the similarities, the divide between us is actually very short – less than a hundred miles.

Vibraphonist Stefon Harris, saxophonist David Sánchez and trumpeter Christian Scott first crossed that divide on their acclaimed two-disc CD/DVD package, Ninety Miles, released June 21, 2011. Recorded during the same trip, their first and only live performance, Ninety Miles Live At Cubadisco, is set for special U.S. digital release September 25, 2012 (international release dates may vary) on Concord Picante. Ivo Neame -][- YATRA –Mp3– [Edition Records, 2012] –

Ivo Neame is a musician of immense talent. He has an astute musical intelligence with a natural improvisatory flair that has seen him develop into one of the busiest and most in demand players on the UK scene. With Yatra, his third album and second on Edition, Ivo Neame has taken control of his own destiny and produced an album that will not only impress but look to propel Neame’s career onto a new trajectory. He has pushed himself further than in any of his previous releases; as a pianist, mulit-instrumentalist, composer and bandleader. Written in a very creative time, between periods of intense touring, Yatra is his most defining and original work to date performed with such an idiosyncratic style by one of the classiest bands in the UK.
