Paris Jazz Underground, SELF-TITLED

Paris Jazz Underground -][- SELF-TITLED –Mp3– [Paris Jazz Underground Records, 2012]

The first release as a group, the “Paris Jazz Underground” (a collective of jazz composers and improvisers) was established in 2009 and comprises six of the most talented musicians on the current Paris jazz scene. Following the initiative of the “Brooklyn Jazz Underground” the group founded it’s own record label (which has given birth to nine other cds), performed extensively including a 2010 tour of Brazil and created a buzz in the specialized French media.

Their impressive collective CV includes names such as : Brad Mehldau, Lee Konitz, Christian Scott, Manu Katché, Chico Buarque, Bill Stewart, Youn Sun Nah, Esperanza Spalding, Randy Brecker, Dave Binney, Enrico Pieranunzi and Kenny Wheeler. The music is melodic, rhythmic, original and features the odd instrumentation of two saxophones, two guitars and bass and drums.

Please visit the website for more information about the individual musicians and their cds : www.parisjazzunderground.com.

The Paris Jazz Underground is : David Prez (tenor sax), Olivier Zanot (alto sax), Sandro Zerafa (guitar), Romain Pilon (guitar), Yoni Zelnik (acoustic bass) and Karl Jannuska (drums). -[Album Notes | CDBaby]-
