Paul Hardcastle, 19 BELOW ZERO

Paul Hardcastle -][- 19 BELOW ZERO – [Universal UK, 2012 | Import]

2012 two CD release from the British keyboardist, songwriter and producer. Paul Hardcastle rose to the top of the charts with his global hit ‘19‘ in the early ’80s. A ground breaking record at the time, Paul’s in-studio experimenting gave him a place in history as a pioneer of electronic production. His classic record ’19’ was #1 in 13 countries and led to the formation of Simon Fuller’s empire, 19 Management.

This double compilation album, which features nine brand new tracks, sees Paul at his best and includes; his sensational collaboration with Marvin Gaye, “Rainforest / What’s Going On”, an as yet unreleased original version of ’19’ and a brand new Sunday Morning mix of the legendary track by Rob Da Bank. The album also introduces his daughter Maxine Hardcastle on vocals. Kick back and take it easy to Disc One with a collection of tracks made to accompany sunrises and sunsets. Disc Two will up the tempo with some smooth tunes perfect for mooching around. Fontana.-[Editorial Review | Amazon.com]-

KENDRICK SCOTT ORACLE – CONVICTION

Kendrick Scott ORACLE -][- CONVICTION – [Concord Jazz, 2013]

With the 2007 release of The Source – his debut recording as a leader – drummer and composer Kendrick Scott established a reputation right out of the gate as an explorer, someone with a generous measure of wisdom and insight to counterbalance his youth and newcomer status.

Nearly six years later, Scott and his band continue to dig beneath the surface to find the deeper truths in Conviction, their new CD scheduled for release on Concord Jazz on March 26, 2013 (international release dates may vary). As the title suggests, Conviction is the vehicle by which Kendrick and company look past the mundane and examine the motivating forces that propel us through life, even in those times when the greater truths are obscured by the tedium of the everyday. Rick Braun, SWINGIN’ SNOW

Sherman Oaks, CA (8 October 2012): As cool as a winter’s eve, as warm as a holiday dinner with loved ones, and as beautiful as an exquisitely ornamented Christmas tree , Rick Braun’s “Swingin’ In The Snow” is a celebration of “the most wonderful time of the year” featuring some of the contemporary jazz star’s talented friends. Braun produced the elegant 11-song set that will be released by Brauntosoarus Music on October 16th. The merry band of musical elves who joined the trumpeter-vocalist in his workshop include Mindi Abair, David Benoit, Gregg Karukas, Dave Koz, Philippe Saisse, Kirk Whalum, Peter White, a string quartet and a gospel choir led by R&B crooner Jeffrey Osborne. Braun will donate one dollar from each album sale to the Autism Society of America. Continue reading →

Sans Chichi -][- MUTE N’ MUSE –Mp3– [Chinchin Records, 2012]

Great movies have great soundtracks… soundtracks, with no frills, but with great feeling and clear melodies being straight to the point. The album Mute N’ Muse from Sans Chichi would not only have the makings of a great soundtrack, it is already one!

It’s a wonderful soundtrack for all occasions. Even without the colorful pictures it has a lot to tell, and creates a unique way in its moods and emotions.
