Cleveland, OH – The Concord-Telarc Division of Concord Music Group received 18 GRAMMY® nominations, as announced by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) on December 5, 2012. All nominations were for albums released from October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012. Winners will be announced at the 55th Annual GRAMMY® Awards on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 8:00 PM ET/PT from Staples Center in Los Angeles, airing live on the CBS Television Network.

Music has flowed mellifluously through Calvin Johnson’s veins as far back as he can remember. He was born into a rich musical heritage where Jazz, Classical and Funk/Soul artists on both sides of his family have paved the way. While Calvin is a multi instrumentalist, he primarily plays the tenor saxophone. His adopted philosophy of perseverance and a respect for the creative force of music allows him to expand on his natural talent instead of taking it for granted. Magnanimus Trio is formed by three friends, Christos Barbas (piano, kaval, voice), Dimitris Tasoudis (drums, piano, voice) and Pavlos Spyropoulos (contrabass, voice) on September 2010. Born in Paris October 19th 1983, to drummer Stephen McCraven and Hungarian folk singer Agnes Zsigmondi, Makaya McCraven has internationally toured, performed and recorded with jazz greats such as Bobby Broom, Archie Shepp and Charles Neville. In high school, Makaya was co-founder of the band Cold Duck Complex. They released 3 records and toured throughout the Northeast, opening for major national acts and gaining a loyal fan base. Cold Duck Complex became a campus favorite at the the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where they opened for 50 Cent, Rhazel and Reel Big Fish. As a music major at the University, Makaya played in the University Jazz Orchestra and earned 3 Downbeat student awards. Continue reading →

At first known as an alto saxophonist, but today he primarily plays the tenor saxophone.

Since his appearance on the scene, he has been a much wanted sideman and his playing can be heard on more than 50 CD´s.

First CD in his own name, Claustrophobia (Stunt Rec.), was released in 1997.

In 2005 he released From the Story Book (Calibrated Rec.) with his new band Claus Waidtløw Group.

In 2001 Waidtløw – together with piano player Nikolaj Hess and drummer Morten Lund – recorded Back and Forth (Music Mecca) in New York, with the great American bass player Christian McBride.

Also in 2001 he toured in Denmark with the American organ and piano player Sam Yahel. -[Excerpt | Biography ‘Translated’]-
