Greg Lewis, ORGAN MONK. Uwo In The Black

Greg “Organ Monk” Lewis -][- ORGAN MONK: Uwo in the Black –Mp3– [Greg Lewis, 2012 | Review] –

Self-taught organist Greg “Organ Monk” Lewis’ ambitious new recording daringly unearths these marvelous stones with his groundbreaking interpretations of ten classics by jazz pianist, innovator and composer Thelonious Monk on his sophomore album “Organ Monk: Uwo in the Black.” At a glance, “Uwo” in the North African Nubian dialect signifies the number two in their culture, with that said the New York native broaden voice augments through four distinctive originals which undeniably compliments this homage paid to the iconic renaissance man Thelonious Monk. 3 Brave Souls, SELF-TITLED

3 BRAVE SOULS -][- Self-Titled –Mp3– [BFM Jazz, 2012 | Review] –

Perhaps equally as important to their friendship, 3 Brave Souls collectively has an unparalleled common denominator. In fact, at various intervals early on they played integral roles and develop their character as musicians by performing with the legendary Miles Davis. Therefore, they unexpectedly became beneficiaries of their tenure with Miles. As a result, these astute alumni essentially qualify to make reoccurring deposits to others and frequent withdrawals from this expansive template of innovative, progressive and creative music rooted in the spirit of love, imagination and passion to play music. Frank McComb, THE LIVING ROOM

Frank McComb -][- THE LIVING ROOM –Mp3– [Boobeescoot Music, 2012] –

My original plan was to release a “Best Of” CD but it just didn’t come together quite the way I wanted it to so I decided to do an “unplugged” live CD. This CD, to me, is by far the most organic and raw project I’ve ever done as I’m not afraid to take chances. I’ve decided to take this chance with my LA based trio and record a CD with no production (2 track mix -no multi tracking), no overdubs (just a few edits), no backing vocals, no bells and no whistles. Instead, I welcome the mistakes, the voice cracks, the wrong notes on piano, microphone squeals and anything else that can go wrong in concert. Continue reading →

Yolanda Rabun, SO REAL

Yolanda Rabun is every woman. A wife, mother, business person and artist extraordinaire, the Atlanta native’s biggest challenge is finding downtime between juggling a music, acting and legal careers, motivational speaking engagements and family life. It’s a convenient challenge Rabun relishes, and considering her energetic personality and vivacious spirit, it’s one she overcomes easily. Being on the go is a life Yolanda has become accustomed to since she was a teenager touring and performing as a featured vocalist in Europe and Japan as a member of Northside School of the Arts’, Showbiz Kids, and even working and recording with Isaac Hayes and singing for the President of the United States.
