Abram Wilson was born in Arkansas and raised in Louisiana, where he attended the famed New Orleans Center for the Performing Arts, like Wynton Marsalis and Harry Connick Jr before him. After appearing with Roy Hargrove and blues legend Ruth Brown, Wilson moved to London in 2002, where he has since become an essential part of the Dune Records roster, alongside Soweto Kinch, Denys Baptiste and Jazz Jamaica. In April 2006, Wilson was judged (by Sonny Rollins and John Scofield, no less) the winner in the jazz category of the International Songwriting Competition.
