Chihiro Yamanaka [-] Forever Begins -(MP3)- [Emarcy / Umgd, 2011]

CHIHIRO YAMANAKA, Universal Classics & Jazz recording artist, is one of the most exciting jazz pianists and composers of her generation, and the leader of the CHIHIRO YAMANAKA TRIO.

CHIHIRO YAMANAKA’s latest CD, “Forever Begins” (Verve) was released in Japan in 2010 and has reached the #1 on the Japanese jazz charts as have her other albums. Based in New York City, her international concert appearances have included Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, JVC Jazz Festival New York, Umbria Jazz Festival, Tokyo Jazz Festival and the Vienna State Opera House.

As acclaimed as Chihiro is in the US and Europe, she is even more popular in Japan, where she’s had an amazing series of successes, with sold-out concert tours and all the CDs reaching the #1 spot on the Japanese jazz charts – an auspicious start to a career that first gained worldwide attention with Chihiro’s 2005 “Best New Artist” award in Swing Journal Magazine. Chihiro Yamanaka - Abyss

Since graduating with top honors from the Berklee College of Music, Japanese pianist Chihiro Yamanaka has been acclaimed as a most accomplished musician and composer with tremendous international potential. While at Berklee, in 2000, she received Down Beat’s Outstanding Performance Award and also won the Sisters In Jazz competition, organized by the International Association for Jazz Education.

She has since won the HMV Award for the Best Jazz Album of 2004 and, in 2005, was voted Best New Artist in the poll of the Japanese jazz publication, Swing Journal.

Chihiro Yamanaka began studying piano at the age of four and, when she was 12, won the Grand Prize at a new talent competition in Gunma, Japan.

All her CDs and DVD have got No.1 in Japanese jazz chart. Now she resides in New York, and has been playing around the world. —MySpace.com
