Jazz Greats Past and Present Highlight Festival History

Headliners for the 35th Anniversary Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival, June 30 – July 1: (left to right) Diana Krall, Chris Botti, Esperanza Spalding, Trombone Shorty, and Hiromi

A resolution commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the legendary Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival and proclaiming June as “Jazz Month” was adopted by the New York State Senate today. Senator Roy McDonald (43rd S.D.), who represents Saratoga County, was the lead sponsor of the measure. Present for the occasion were Marcia White, SPAC’s President & Executive Director, SPAC Board Member Don McCormack, festival producer Danny Melnick, President of Absolutely Live Entertainment, and William Smith, Director of Sales for Freihofer’s, the title sponsor of the festival. The Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) June Festival returns to the Benedict Music Tent with a line-up including new faces and old favorites, an expanded JAS Café Downstairs at the Nell series, and the addition of a nightly pre-concert Lawn Party prior to the headline concerts.

The Festival kicks off on Friday, June 22 with three of the biggest names in jazz-rock and soul, The Dukes of September, featuring Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs. Saturday, June 23 brings the iconic blues-rocker, Joe Cocker, to the stage, who last played JAS in June 2003. The first weekend concludes on Sunday, June 24 with pop/country singer/songwriter k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang in her first ever JAS appearance. Continue reading →

Blue Note Jazz Festival

New York, NY – April 13, 2011 – In honor of its 30th anniversary, the Blue Note Jazz Club is opening its doors throughout New York City during the month of June for the inaugural Blue Note Jazz Festival. More than 80 shows featuring many artists who have performed at the Blue Note for years will take the city by storm at this year’s largest New York jazz festival.
