The first word that came to mind when hearing the debut CD of the Maurits Roes trio was: poetry. Music and notes like the words of a poet searching for what is unnameable and sometimes touching it. From the haunting melancholy of a Hungarian folksong to the pointillistic beginnings of ‘Puppets’, eventually getting into a jazz drive.

A dreamy romantic feel as one of the Essential Elements in their musical journey.

It’s always a surprise when musicians each of whom you’ve heard before in various bands or during widely divergent jam sessions, suddenly happen to form a band together. And when I say band, I really mean band. As is the case with Thinktank and their first CD effort Pek Dek. They sound very close, like they’ve been working a lot together before, like they know each other musically inside out.
